"Last weeks program presented to our club by Larry Holcomb was Michelle Chapman a Program Specialist with the University of Oklahoma OUTREACH. Michelle spoke to the club about the Children of Promise-Mentors of Hope program geared at finding Mentors for children of incarcerated parents. There are 20,000 children under the age of 18 in Oklahoma. 72% of children of criminal parents follow their parents footsteps and end up in the prison system. You need only to commit 1 hour per week for one year to be a mentor. There will be a class to help get you started at Cameron University N Shepler Bldg. Will Rogers Room 6 – 8:30 Tuesday June 27, 2006. You can contact Michelle at 405-325-1791 for more information."
