Tips for Getting into a School Schedule

Transitioning from Summer Back into School
by Shelly Butler and Deb Kratz

- Gradually adjust bedtimes

- Get back to regular meal times and well balanced, healthy meals

- Get back into the habit of reading everyday

- It helps to keep the week before and the week after school stats less hectic and free of extra activities. This will help children adjust to the demands of the new school year.

- Add a “special something” to the occasion. “Something as simple as ice cream sundaes as part of an annual back-to-school dinner” will put a positive spin on the upcoming event.

- Remind your child that “every year of school offers the opportunity to try new things, make new friends and explore new ideas”
